Bobcat Closed?

Post by shmoken875 »

I might have missed a meeting, I didn't know Bobcat closed, what happened there? After many months I finally got my cherokee trailworthy and was gonna go up this weekend for a refresher. Oh yea how do you get on the list serve?

They did not mention anything at the last meeting about the closing of Bobcat. I think it is a new topic occuring with in the last 2 weeks or so.

As for the listserve, I have been trying to get added since May and am still not on. Maybe some older memebers can tell us the secret :confused2:

Yeah, Hoge locked the Bobcat lane end of the trail. We're currently working with him to get it re-opened. The 460 end is still open as far as I know. As soon as I know something I'll post up.

It sounds like we will be able to continue to use Bobcat with the land owner's special permission, however it will probably involve getting another trash cleanup run organized. If you get up there and find the gate closed, please just turn around and go home- don't try to go around. This thing will work itself out, but be patient.

We are working on the listserv right now. We currently do not have access to it because old members accounts were removed and they controlled the listserv. So we are still trying to transfer ownership and as soon as that happens members will be added to the listserv.

I am sorry for this but we are working on it.

I road my bike down bobcat (heading away from 460) today. I didn’t run into any gates. I ended up on Old Creek rd (684) which led Mt Zion rd to Glade rd. A little further towards town on Glade road I passed Bobcat Ln. I don’t know if I missed a turn or what but I didn’t see any no trespassing signs or gates so I figured it was chill. Does anyone know if this is private property? It might be an alternative access to Bobcat.

Yes you were on private property and yes you missed a turn. When you pass all the mud holes on bobcat and get to the top of the long hill you can either go straight or turn left. You went straight. You should have turned left.

I may run up there tomorrow to see what the status of the gate is.

The way you went is onto private property. I've talked to that landowner and he does not want people coming down there. There ought to be no trespassing signs down there... I guess maybe they've disappeared. :confused2:

Let me know what you find out. I'd like to make a run saturday and hoping there won't be any trouble getting on the trail.
