Spent a good bit of time in the shop today again finishing up the rear cross member. I made up a fish plate for where the rear links mount to the cross member to reinforce that area as well as the gusset bar. I also go started on the frameside upper mounts. I'm not 100% sold on them right now, I might try and find a way to add a little more bracing, but I think they will be alright. Ran out of gas for the welder so i wasn't able to finish weld anything, just got it all tacked up.
I'm getting a 14 bolt for the rear so that I won't have to redo all my link mounts on the axle when I do switch. Hopefully I'll be picking it up monday and then I can get this thing to a linked roller state. I'm gonna try to get as in the morning and finish all the frameside link mounts and potentially chop the frame off, we'll see how inspired I am. At that point there's no turning back.

Jake, somehow I knew there would be pictures of that already up when I got home haha.
Jake came by today and helped me out for like 10 hours and some others buddies stopped by, it was really productive. Spent the first 2 hours of the day searching for someone to refill/sell me some shielding gas for my welder. Eventually I borrowed a friends tank and got to work.
Finished welding up the plate on the crossmember and welded on the lower link mounts. Finished the upper link mounts as well. Once we had the crossmember bolted in the help keep it square, down went the saw. Took like 15 minutes to get the rear portion of the frame away because it was hung up on so many things.
I also decided to start on the new frame tonight. I got the passenger side cut, mocked, tacked, and then finish welded. I made up some plates for it but am waiting on a holesaw for some plug/fisheye welds on them. Ideally I'll get the driverside done tomorrow and maybe some form of a bumper started.

nope it goes straight back. its 3 pieces to get it right where I want it. I'm gonna plate 2 sides of it and then run atleast 1 crossmember between them in addition to the rear bumper. got the other rail done this evening. Hopwfully I'll get my tubing and 14 bolt early this week sometime.

Don't know what size you're getting but if you get in a bind waiting for the tube I've got about 55' of 1.75 .120 laying around.willhf1011 wrote:nope it goes straight back. its 3 pieces to get it right where I want it. Rant I just might take you up on that. If AOI can't get me my tube pretty soon I'll let you know. Thats what I planned to use for my uppers and I could use it for lowers temporarily. Yeap, no biggie. I can just swap and take the AOI tube when it comes in, I have no immediate need for it.willhf1011 wrote:Rant I just might take you up on that.
