WTB Truck
New member here, been in the area for a couple years now. I've got a "Mitch wants a truck" fund currently building up funds.
To be honest, I'm just looking for something with four wheel drive in decent shape. I've got the know-how for a fixer-upper but I live in an apartment now, so that's a bit out of my league.
My goals for the truck is primarily hunting, and maybe some light wheeling. Once I find a place with a garage I'll break out the tools and go to town on it.
If I could pick and choose the truck would be:
Standard transmission
85 or older (to register as an antique to avoid inspection headaches)
solid front axle
Right now I've got about $1700 saved up. Standard transmission is almost a must for me, I have a tendency to destroy automagics.
I'm fairly open to makes and models. For some background and reference, I go by this same name over or coloradok5.com (I've owned a few K5s and a 3500 dually at one point in the past).

Mitch, good to see you finally post up on here. I would keep an eye out for something similar to what Terry linked to. Plenty of those on CL around here, and always that cheap. I can help you out with any towing you might need with some notice, and you would be surprised what the local apartment complexes are used to around here for "projects" in the parking lot.

Like James said, many of us have done axle swaps or worse, the maintenance personnel at my complex seem to be more interested than displeased. I think they just throw that in the leases to keep from having a busted up truck on jack stands missing body panels in their parking lot.Jagged wrote:Thanks Terry, but I don't think I can get away with engine work in my apartment parking lot :)
Although I am curious what kind of 'minor motor work' you can drive everyday needing...
I may swing by the meeting, I live close to downtown.
