i think the reds would be pretty sweet, ud deff be more unique running those puppies. Let me know when u go home, Id like to go with and help u work if thats cool with you
I would almost feel the opposite. I know so many people running reds even on just trail rigs, but very rarely come across guys with pits or ltbs. Either that or I'd like to run treps. Zach from AtoZ fab has been trying to cinvince me to take his 40 inch treps on KMC's for some time now, he just wants a little too much money.
I'll let you know when I go home for a real work weekend. I might be heading out this weekend, but I doubt I will get alot of time with the jeep, it will likely be busy with other things as well

Another good thing about not buying the stickies right away is you wouldn't have to worry about not being able to drive on the street without completely destroying your tread. I know it's pretty rare for you to have your YJ on the road but its just another thing to think about.

yeah will ur right, ur much more connected and into the wheeling world than i am. I was just speaking from personal experience of what Ive seen on the different trails ive been to and who I know and what theyre running.
Sounds good, itd be fun to get my hands dirty on a serious project.

I wasn't trying to make any comments about knowledge or anything like that alec. Its also just different people. The creepers are all a bunch of comp style wheeling oriented guys and Rausch is full of rocks. The further south you go you see more swampers and the like im sure. I'm sure you've seen lots more of those style tires being further south than I am. That and I know alot of people with access to stickies, so it seems they all run them

I was thinking about Treps myself, but after reading that thread, I'm staying away as a matter of principle.
I haven't read the whole thing, but got the gist of it. Thats absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. However, as much as I hate to support that kind of thing, I would still run them if given the chance, they just work so well. I'm not concerned about myself getting any warranty stuff, but like you said Ary, its a matter of principle.
I just got a deposit on my front axle so it looks like the front is getting linked sooner than I thought. I'm working up the "to do"/parts list for the front. This is looking to likely be a much longer project than I had planned.

thats awesomwe! are you going to run coilovers front and rear, or put your coilovers up front and buy some "cheaper" airshocks for the rear?

I haven't decided yet. I almost dont want to sell it, I was looking forward to the jeep being drivable soon. Im trying to figure out the finances, its looking rather gloomy and frugal for quite some time.
Don't do it. Just get it back together and wheel it. You'll hate yourself when everyone is going on trips and you're not cause your shit's torn apart. Trust me!
You can always sell your front axle later. Save your pennies in the mean time

Got some parts in so I'm gonna wrench on it tomorrow, hoping to have it riding on springs. I've got some 18 in 250 lb/in springs that will hopefully work as main coils. I should be able to use them to get an idea of corner sprung weight and can from there order my uppers to get the frequency I want.
Found a PBB member to swap hubs with me, so I got my SRW hubs and rotors and all mounted up. I spent a couple hours working up my upper coilovers mounts making a modular plate bracket. It didn't end up working out the way I wanted to so that was time wasted. I did keep the cage addition I made up and came up with a tube style upper mount that I like alot more. After I got them partially welded up I got it settled on the springs.
For those keeping track of our weight contest, I've got about 500 pounds of sprung weight in the rear empty. Now that I have my weight and shock mounting figured out I can start to figure out the frequencies for my coilovers.
