blown ECM-B fuse

Post by jstables »

My 91 s10 blazer w/4.3 is sitting at home right now because it keeps blowing this fuse. I thought it was fixed. I have replaced the fuel pump relay and checked the wires running from it to the oil pressure switch and now it just blows the fuse right away. Even when i jump the fuse relay as soon as i touch a fuse it blows. Any ideas?
The only thing i can think of is the fuel pump or a wire shorting out from me installing the body lift?

Start inspecting your harness and grounds. You seem to have a short somewhere which is causing the failsafe (fuse) to fail.

Have a multimeter? Start looking for dead shorts (to ground) in the circuit. You will need a schematic. Search around online and you should be able to find one. Any similar year GM with TBI is going to be close. Another option is to start disconnecting devices in the circuit or sections of the harness. Especially around the fuel pump harness and any other wiring that has been stretched by the lift.

yeh i have wiring diagram from autozone's website that i was following when i tested the relay and figured out that was bad/not making good connection the plugs were reall dirty with some out grease and the plugs were a little loose so i bent them back out when i put a new relay on. About the wiring does anyone know where exactly that the wires run for the fuel pump? I think they run in the body and through the floor in the back where the power for the license plate light runs?

Yeah that is what I remember about the wiring on my 86 body. Nothing along the frame on the S trucks like the older GM trucks.

also behind the driver side interior panel there is a huge wiring harness that should have the wires running to the fuel pump as well right? I remember seeing it when i was putting new speakers in? just a quick place i could check for resistance on my meter
