So that you all know I have not YET given up on this little adventure.....

Awhile back me and rant ground off the old motor mounts
(anyone who actually saw these realizes the giant bitch of a task this was)
and got the 304 ready to be pulled from the old jeep

I bought tube from Ary (Will I was hoping you could deliver this for me when you tow your jeep to bburg....)

Got a piece of tube for a new front frame crossmember

And got a set of one tons. YAY! Got the 60 tore down this weekend which sucked cause it clearly had not been taken apart in 29 god damn years. However, the internals look decent and I think I'm going to not rebuild the spindles and hubs to try and save some money. Any thoughts?

niceee, how much the tons cost you?? did you get a rear 60 too? what gear ratio? and are you keeping it at that ratio??

idk what you mean by rebuild, but I would deff do that (my thought of rebuild is just tearing it down then repacking bearings cleaning parts and adding fresh grease)

Think more so decided on 5.13's cause I only want to do this once this time around......

I'm noticing quite a few 39.5 iroks for sale. Highway driving will kind of suck with a max speed of 70 but anything bigger worries me with stock shafts. Just won't be able to caravan with Ary :lol2:

500 bones 3.5 hrs away in new jersey. But i took the dmax so fuel was free. And honestly 7 hours of highway racing in that thing was fun regardless of buying axles or not. 4.10 gears and the rear is a 14 bolt. Downside is they are CC axles but they came with one SRW hub for the 60, two calipers, two caliper brakets, two spare knuckles, and two spindles (all of this is for sale fyi.) Already picked up a set of 14bolt SRW hubs for 50 bucks delivered to my door.

Im going to rebuild the knuckles cause one of them needs it so I might as well do the other since they are apart. If the inner wheel bearings and races come out of the DRW hubs looking decent I won't buy any more new parts for the front end, just re-grease and run it.

OOHHHHHH no. The kingpins themselves are staying put. It may be impossible to actually remove them with that axle just sitting on the floor or on jack stands cause its just me and there is no way to hold it still to put alot of ass into loosing bolts.

Plus they aren't pitted or scored or anything.

Got some stuff done the past two weeks. Managed to flatbelly the dana 20. Resulted in alot of missing floor and my tranny shifter now comes through the dash. Looks like some sort of old-school 18 wheeler set up. Currently very slowly sandblasting all the front 60 parts so I can assemble it and get it underneath the jeep. Hopefully by the end of next week (schedule is already filling up with other shit I gotta do) its back to roller status in the front.
