Hydro parts and FJ80 axle parts for sale
I'm changing directions a bit with my project truck and will be parting out my 80 front axle. Basically everythign is up for grabs except the third member and the longs.
The hydro system is all from Station and is nice and bling. None of this stuff has been run, just used for mockup(and most of it was masked, so there is only VERY minor scratches on a couple things). I can post detailed pics of any flaws next weekend.
I have:
Hydro parts -
- 7" throw balanced double-acting cylinder
- clevis ends w/ heims
- POS reservoir w/ built in filter(uses a standard oil filter)
- TC style PS pump w/ PSC V-belt pulley
- Load reactive open center orbital valve w/ short steering column
- anti-kickback valve
- steering shaft u-joint that fits orbital and adapts to 3/4" smooth on the other side
Again, this is a complete NEW system, the only thing you need are hoses and a cooler. Asking $1100 for everything together, OR
Ram - 375
Orbital - 275
Column - 50
U-joint - 50
Reservoir - 125
Pump - 150
V-belt pulley for pump - $50
Clevis ends w/ hardware - 75
Anti-kickback valve - 25
Axle parts -
- tie-rods that are made to work with above cylinder and have Dodge TRE's at the knuckle ends(I reamed out the stock arms, but one is crooked, so you would need one steering arm)
- housing completely stripped of all bracketry, but has the hydro ram mount welded on(will cut off at buyer's request)
- knuckles through calipers are complete(including stock drive flanges)
- calipers are freshly rebuilt
- also have stock inners for spares
Asking $500 for all this stuff
If there's something you want, let me know. I'd prefer to sell all of this complete, but I doubt that will happen.

3rds are fairly common as they are a popular swap. Not nearly as common as low pinion 4cylinder thirds, but they're not impossible to find either. FYI a standard low pinion diff will fit in this housing.
The biggest downside to the 80 housing is no aftermarket high steer is currently available. Slee offroad is supposed to be releasing some arms soon, but until it happens it's just speculation.
I did a lot of research on this axle before going ahead with it, and if it weren't for a cash shortage I would continue with it. So feel free to ask any questions you might have.

yea i looked through a couple buildups, i think the real downside for me would be having to swap tcases, i was planning on maybe going dual cases in the future so maybe just put off the swap until i can get all the parts adapters and tcases for that? what are the main differences between an fj80 axle and a dana 44? most of the build ups i found we're having to have high steering arms fabricated specifically for the build, are there any other options for steering?

Honestly, the FJ80 swap is a "toyota purist" type swap. It has lots of disadvantages, but it has a certain cool factor that your axle is as strong as a D60(at least in terms of shaft strength) and is still a Toyota 8". It's not the cheapest, it's not the easiest, but it's different, and that's what appealed to me in the first place.
A D44 would need alloy shafts and joints to hold up strength wise compared to an FJ80 axle.
At the risk of killing a sale, this axle honestly doesn't sound like the right one for you.

thanks for the info ary, i did a little more reading into it and another possibility would be running an old 4 cyl gear driven tcase and adding reduction gears, im not crossing it out yet, i want to do a little more research on it and price calculating before i make any decisions

yea it does, but thats not that huge of an issue considering i was planning on redoing it anyways, just need to figure our where to route things, will a w56 or r151 bolt up to a 3RZ? and if so will a used one requre any rebuilding/maintenance?
