The ram mount saga that has taken me almost three days and at least three attempts to get right....

Made some tie rods and then started with this guy, quick to realize that I need almost a full 90 degree bend to clear my springs and u bolts. It's now in the scrap pile.

Attempt 2...

Made some 90ish degree bends and came up with this mount. Spent alot of time getting my steering link geometry more or less perfect. Problem is that the rig doesn't quite agree with this mount. Biggest problem being the less than one inch of clearance between the mount and the crank pulley.

3rd and hopfully final attempt. Moved attempt 2 out in front of the diff and built a bridge up to the clamps on the ram. Not a fuck was given about my steering geometry and I put the ram right between the crank pulley and the radiator. Rotated the clamps down to clear the radiator best I could. It seems to fit pretty well. Judging by the full compression on one side it appears I may be able to hit full bump without any bumpstops and not have the ram crash into anything. Everything seems to clear the leafsprings ok too. I sleeved the mounted with some 1.5 .120 wall to try and add some beef.

Mine takes a lot fewer hits than I expected it would, but when it does they're pretty hard ones.

Looks real good, lets get it driving for Saturday.

I know. I'm putting a straight piece between it and the axle tube to reinforce it more. Also would like to cut some 2 inch length wise and weld it to the front in some sort of fancy fashion to make it look cool.

The shitty thing is that it's so tight with everything that the slightest wheelbase or suspension change will fuck it all up and I'll have to re-do it. (read: when I fuck it up I'll use it as an excuse to make suspension upgrades....)

Hey it drives! Picked up my drive shaft from fleet pride in Roanoke on Friday. And got some sweet 14 bolt girdles from Great Lakes to go with it.

Now, it would be sweet to "steer and stop around at the party".

Don't worry, your traction bar should put you somewhere around 250%

Shit I'd take that over humping rocks and snapping springs any day.
