Noob joinin up
Hi im Jackson,
Ill be a junior in Aerospace in the fall, picked up my uncles 4runner a while back and have been eager to take it out on some trails, but have had difficulty finding anyplace to go thats legal. so i look forward to joinin up with you guys this fall.
the rig is a 92 SR5 4runner, on 31 inch bfg mud terrains. both a rear diff locker and suspension lift are on the way, hasnt happened yet because of a lack of a place to work on it at Tech.
cant wait to come out wheel!

Welcome!
We will start posting up some info on the forum soon pertaining to meetings and trailrides and such as the school year approaches. It's a little dead now with everyone away for the summer but were hoping to get the ball rolling soon and have a great year of wheeling.

The first meeting will likely be the last weekend in August, after the first week of classes. They are Sunday evenings and we generally meet in the lot at the corner of Prices Fork and West Campus Drive. More info will get posted up here on the forum after this weekend probably. I have a list of stuff I've been meaning to get together and post, hopefully I'll have time this weekend.

havent ordered em yet, but right now im leanin towards:
2" toytec or OME rear suspension lift and ball joint spacers
2" BL from 4crawler
(i know something like a procomp 4" suspension lift would be better overall, but its outside of my price range)
and a spartan locker for the rear.
if anyone has experience with 4runners/tacomas and has any advice id greatly appreciate it.

haha awesome. glad there's someone with some experience with them.
and i love the Yotas, ive owned/driven 3 4runners now.
had a '94 SR5 for 6 days, it saved my life (but was totaled) when an overhanging tree limb that was 2-3 feet in diameter randomly fell on the drivers side A pillar while i was going 50+ mph (bent the roof-line down 4 inches)
drove my dad's 2000 runner through highschool, until he decided that the seats in that didnt hurt his back like our ranger did, so we traded
bought my Uncles 92 last christmas for 600 bucks, almost 20 years old, 200k miles, and im the second owner
The Runner i have now:
ive done my fair share of wheeling in the past, just never had my own vehicle.
my friend's Rhino that i am no longer allowed to drive:
so ya. really lookin forward to building a rig and wheeling it

Nice runner man. I wouldnt even consider a 4" procomp lift for that thing. Lock the rear and wheel man. The "bracket" lifts will get tweaked in no time. The strongest setup for the IFS is stock. I would wheel it until there is nothing left in the front then SAS it.jacksondemere wrote:havent ordered em yet, but right now im leanin towards:

If you are dead set on the lift, the ball joint spacers wouldn't be bad, same with the OME springs. That said you dont need a lift for 31's. I would skip the lift and start saving for some T case mods.
Hope to wheel with ya soon man.

What Stinson said. Leave the IFS alone until you’re ready to cut it off. You can fit 33s with minor massaging of the pinch weld in the rear of the front fender well. If you have to lift it, consider just running rear OME coils and shocks with the front stock. Timmay is running this on his 91 4runner.
If I was building an IFS Toyota id get some sliders, a rear locker and dual tcases. In that order. You can find elocked Tacoma thirds for $300-400 online.
5speed or auto? 22re?
