ok thanks for all the Advice.
I need to replace the rear springs/shocks combo because its sagging like the 2nd gens tend to do so well, and id like to level it out with the BJ spacers, and id like to be able to run 33's when the set i have wears out.
ive got an arc-welder and access to a ton of scrap schedule 40 piping, so when i have some time i was planning on fabbing up some sliders and armor.
ive heard that the elockers are a bit prone to failure, as opposed to an airlock (too expensive) or a lunchbox locker. i know the latter poses some issue on-road, but i have a ranger and motorcycle, both of which get way better gas mileage. anyone have any advice on a lunchbox locker?
and its a 3vz-fe, 5speed, 200k.
engine's strong right now, but plannin for a 1-uz swap (landcruiser V8) when it dies.
(or if i was dreaming real big id try to find another 1gz-fe toyota v12 like the one that was on yotatech a while back)
that being said from what i can tell, if i lock the rear end and make the suspension able to have some travel again, its gonna be me and my inexperience rather than the rig holding me back, so thats where i plan on starting.
Noob joinin up

I'm not too well versed on yota stuff, but Hippie seems to do well with his e-lockers as do the rest of the guys with them.
As far as a lunchbox I definitely recommend a spartan locker. I ran one in my old 44 and it took longer to get the diff cover off than to install the locker. The spartans are supposed to be stronger than lockrites from what I understand and they include little pieces of wire for installing which makes the process so much easier.

All the elocker haters just don't know how to wire them. They are great if you wire them up right. Unlike an ARB, you can manually lock and unlock and elocker with a screwdriver. They are just as strong as any other v6 8" toyota diff. You might have heard about some of the issues they had braking ring and pinions in the 2005 models. That was an isolated issue that toyota warrantied. The only advantage of an ARB is it locks/unlocks instantly.
1uz would be pimp
2uz is the landcruiser v8
