Im with you there man. Ive had my only vehicle be the rig I try to wheel in but either I dont have time to fix it to wheel or have to drive along way with a built rig and it just got complicated.

Now I got me a DD and a rig that I need to get on the trail once I get money to finish it and get on the trail. But either way,two rigs is a good way to go.

Pick up a 90-95 Toyota pickup, with a good running 3.0 ($3000-$4000), wheel the piss out of it with 33s till you break the IFS, do a SAS w/ a toy solid front ($3000 inc. axle build up), and when the 3.0 dies, or you try running water in it (don't recommend) swap in a 3.4, which is a piece of cake with a manual tranny 3.0 truck, basically drop in. If you plan well you can do the SAS cheaper. And I'll build you sliders, bumpers and a tube bed.
92 Toyota pickup, 5VZFE, SAS, 30 splines, football cover, spooled and welded, 4.10s, SOS prototype rear disc brake conversion, soon to be Maryland inspected

I think you're crazy though. There will always be some nook in the doors or the interior that you missed and will stay red. ho-ho-ho
