Axle Swap:

Old Axle Out

Image
Elocker Diff and rusty af housing. It had a few pin holes but hopefully nothing too serious.

Image
Got the housing cleaned up and coated with a few coats of POR 15.

Image
Axle reassembled to go back in.

New elocker diff and housing back in the 4runner.
While it was all apart I threw some 1.5 inch coil spacers in the rear to give me a little more height.

The whole mechanical portion of the swap took 2 full days which wasn't bad for a few guys who have never dropped an axle. As far as the wiring, I just needed to lengthen all of the wires from the plug and extend it to my battery and a switch.

For anyone in the future, this is the switch picture I used.

Installing the switch and the wiring took a few hours, and thankfully it worked. All in all the elocker swap cost me about $600 including all of the wiring, por15, and gear oil.
Now it just needs testing. Stock tires, 2 inches of rear lift, and elocker with built rigs at Windrock. Should be fun!

Windrock: Spring 2017
I didn't get too many good pictures because I spent the better part of the weekend trying not to shit myself.

Ended the weekend with some heavily dented skids and a little dent in my rocker from the stupid creek trail that we had to double back on  .
Overall I was very impressed with how a basically stock 4runner with a locker did to keep up.

Looks good! Whats next on the agenda?
Can conquer anything in my path with my yellow turd. My truck doesn't burn oil it burns transfer cases at mile marker 187. My truck doesn't get dented it simply molds to it environment becoming faster and more agile. Patches is made from fence posts that were used to keep in the monsters from hell. Patches doesn't have horsepower, it has god power. Patches doesn't drive over rocks, it forces them beneath it because it is superior.

Don't we all haha. Are you planning on buying sliders or building your own?

Id like to do it as cheap as possible, but id like to also start learning fabrication. That being said I can get a set of trail gear from 4Wheel Parts for about $200.

You don't need sliders! They're called rocker panels for a reason... :lol2:
