perhaps we should have an updated announcment by the current officers ...

when i see a thread from President Slinky ... i wont lie and say i pay attention to it.

also, give a general statement of what kind of posts are not tolerated .... "keep it clean" doesnt mean much to me (and yes, i know that some of my posts in the past have been over the line)

what i dont think we should do is to cater to those that get offended by adult language / situations ... seeing as we are all adults, here. im not saying that we should post whatever we feel like posting and telling those that get offended to go pound sand ... but i also dont think that we should be anal about language and adult pictures (full on nudes, however, should be kept in the members section, leach :flipoff2: )

when someone is out of line, however ... a PM by a mod that has a link to the offending post AND a statement of why it doesnt follow rules will go a long way.

another possibility is to add a splash page to the forums with a "check here if you're older 18..." or whatever age.

and specifically state that some content may be PG-13, and for members/users of the forum, we expect adherence to some simple rules:

no lips or nips.

no racial/ethnic slurs will be tolerated.

language is PG-13.

i really dont understand the PG13 language, personally. the VAST majority, if not all, of the people reading the forum is an adult. sdult language should be tolerated (of course, stringing together every obscene word in the english language on every post is a wee bit over the line ...

Cody, I tend to agree and have said the same before. I think what's got in my ass now is the notion that some 80 year old landowner could somehow figure out how to use teh intarweb and get the wrong idea about the attitudes of our club members.

i can definitely see that point of view ... its definitely possible and something that should be considered by those that make the final decision about this.

Eric:

I'm not saying there needs to be "forum police" or other strict procedures or what have you. Users need to realize that their comments reflect on the club (good or bad). There needs to be some type of guidelines more than "keep it clean", if for no other reason than good PR towards visitors to our forum. What type of disclaimers or guidelines do other 4x4 forums have? (no need to re-invent the wheel!)
