ATV's and dirtbikes on Bobcat

Post by Steinberg »

While on the topic of the firecircle end of bobcat- I've been seeing a lot of dirtbikes and ATVs up there recently. It's not legal for them (unregistered vehicles) to be up there, and this was one of the big issues that the rangers mentioned when I had talked to them a while back. I imagine they're riding the bike/walking trails up there which would be detrimental to maintaining any vehicle access up there. Please pass along to anyone you might know that it is in fact illegal to have the atvs and dirtbikes up there, and if you feel the need to report them you'd want to call either the Blacksburg Ranger Station or Montgomery County Sherrif.

i think a lot of the people that are riding out there live along Bobcat lane and own property along the trail. Most of them look like locals with no clue.

The group I saw the other day had a minivan pulling a trailer with 3 or 4 bikes on it, and a pickup with a quad in the back. They came in on the fireroad and were riding around that area. If they were on the other end of the trail then it would be the landowner's issue.
