hey eric!!! what kinda heim did you use on your track bar end??

I got mine from Ballistic Fab along with some high-misalignment bushings. I think it's kevlar-lined or some other funky shit. I basically sized it with the misalignment bushings to fit my existing bracket. The shank is 7/8" and I got a piece of 1.25", roughly .25" wall DOM threaded for it from a friend of mine.

the end w/ the ball joint is the one that hooks to the frame, i was wondering if i could weld this

to that end and then put some sort of adjustment on the other....maybe cut it in half on the long straight part and thread it? would welding to the stock rod hold up? (not sure if its cast or fordged) thoughts???

As long as you or whoever welds the bar is skilled at it, the joint will hold fine.

warning- those joints are a lot bigger than they look in pictures.

the stock tapered balljoint stud deals with the single-shear mounting a lot better than a straight bolt through a heim. welding to the cast is also not ideal. do-able yes, just not ideal.

personally, I would replace it with a stock one until you get enough lift under there to not need 50 bends in the tracbar, then you can build a nice straight one with some bling ends on it.

ya, those joints are huge. my new tracbar(not installed yet) has the rubicon express joint which looks exactly like that one. if you want to take a look at it, let me know.

yeah man, i'd like to see that joint, and eric, i was gonna build a bracket to rotate the joint 90 degrees and make it a double shear mount.....i dont wanna put down another $80 for a new trackbar, and then trash it quickly flexin it....besides, i'll probably never lift this one enough to be able to use a straight bar. if anyone can bend tubing to match my bar, i'd be happy to pay you to do it.... then i'd have something i know could be welded and stronger than the stock piece. then some "bling" as you put it on one end, and poly bushing on the lower... that work?

i talked to Ary today and he recomended against rusty's brand stuff....so i'm seriously considering building my own track bar. you guys know more about what diameter tubing and such i'll need. give me some suggestions, i'm gonna use a RE superflex rebuildable joint on the frame end, and poly bushings on the axle end. could someone take a look at it w/ me some time and give me some idea of what i'd be getting myself into????

id be happy too look at it with you ... shouldnt be too difficult with adjustability built into it ...

go with 250 wall tubing if you really think you need it ... 180 might work for you though .... maybe 1.5" OD tubing?

Since you're gonna have to bend it to clear everything I would definately go with 1.5" .250 wall. .120 would be fine straight, but bent, I'd go .250 for sure.
