For any that are confused about the inter cooler it would be for enginee cooling more than performance.

Looking at it I would prob be making about 300hp and 400ftlbs if I do it right

so with a new motor I would need to upgrade my trans most likely the problem is finding something to swap in... I wouldn't mind running an hold a518/a618 but would have trouble adapting to my motor I believe, want to stay away from the other torquflights or at least any of them with electronics involved. other option would be to adapt a 700r4 and just run that. The only direct swap I would consider is an AW4 but don't feel like fighting the wiring harness. im not 100% sure that my computer even detects my current trans cause its all hydraulic so I might be able to just run a stand alone aw4 system. not sure how much stronger it is than my 32rh however worried about pumping 375-400 ft-lbs through it.
another benefit of the aw4 over swaping in a bigger torqueflight or 700r4 is that its easy to adapt a dana 300 relative to the other trans listed (by easy I mean less than $500)

this could all go out of the window if I decide to put historic tags on the jeep and say fuck it and put a v8 in it... but I thinking having it be registered as a normal vehicle would be pretty cool....

btw comp cut 8" stretch and fuel cell 40s and al beadlocks are probably on there way in the near future....................... cant wheel out west on a 94" wheel base to much verticle

My vote is a 700R4, lowest 1st gear around, cheap and easy to build to handle more power, and the only feedback device is a TV cable that you can hook directly to your TB cable. You'll also have OD for a higher top speed in low range.

yea I think ive narrowed it down to either a AW4 or a 700r4, If I do the AW4 im gonna just buy this: http://www.radesignsproducts.com/winter ... -kits.html.

AW4:
Pros: I have one from gus's XJ, no adapters except clocking ring for dana 300, pretty strong in stock form, overdrive,
Cons: Completely Electric, all aftermarket support is for supras, not as wide of gear range

700r4
Pros: no electronics, strong!, Merica, large aftermarket support, overdrive, wider gear ratio
Cons: I don't have one, need custom adapters for both motor and trans (ends up being very long and expensive),

Gearing:
AW4 2.80 1.53 1.00 .75
700r4 3.06 1.63 1.00 .70

both trans can handle 300hp and 400ftlb however the longevity of the 700r4 will be much better

AW4 would be cheaper at this point and probably fit better and allow me to keep a long rear driveshaft.. however that isn't an issue if I stretch it.....

so decided to go with the aw4 because of the huge decrease in cost and fitment in the jeep, ordered all the stuff I need and am planning to pull everything out next week, build some form of a engine care, redo my trans and power steering coolers, clean up some wiring and emissions stuff and then smack another 4.0 in with the dana 300 and aw4... gonna be cool! kinda not really just gay jeep shit!

Trans is out motor coming out soon, bunch of cool shit on its way. ended up getting the winters shifter kit and now debating getting cables for the dana 300 so I can put the twin sticks anywhere not just right on top. gonna rip out all the factory center console and build my own.... nothing fancy just basic necessities cup holders shifters and probably a switch panel and put all my fuses on it for easy access. can you say snowball... this started as a motor swap...

Got the motor out last night and took it all apart and no visible damage to any of the cylinder walls, pistons or valves. so I am not 100% sure what the issue is... cylinder one is all black and charred up and cylinder 6 clearly had water get in it somehow had rust around the top of the cylinder. Ill post pictures later today.

so now that the motor is out, im planning on building a "semi engine cage like thing" and redo all of my cooling system, I am removing my AC system to clear up some space for the coolers. (it will have to go when I get a supercharger either way) Also going to an electric fan and a bigger power steering cooler. Finally upgrading to dry cell battery. Going to build some form of fender wells so my motor doesn't get as covered in mud anymore.

Shifter and clocking ring will be here later next week then ill worry about getting the trans and tcase fitted under the car. The whole combo will end up being about 3 inches shorter than what I currently have so probably going to have to modify both driveshafts, if I can fit a larger OD front driveshaft I will most likely go to 1350s because gus has a bunch of old ones from his bronco which he converting to 1410s so ill buy those from him.

SUPRISE the plan has changed again!!!

just gonna decompresses my stock 4.0 and put a super charger no need to stroke it i dont feel. I figured the increased strength and balance of a moderner shaft than an old high mileage 258 crank. So i am planning on everything being the same with 258 forged rods everything else from a 4.0.

Are you trying to go with a vortex style supercharger( basically a belt driven turbo) or Kennybell roots style? Pretty sure Kennybell is the only one that makes a roots style SC for the 4.0L.

im just going to do my own setup with a M90 supercharger off an old buick 3800. its a roots style. Planning on going to bout 12-15psi of boost with a static compression ratio of about 6.5-7:1
