i fixed a bike frame with that stuff once while i was working at performance... it's pretty silly, but it seemed to work (we never heard back from the guy after we boogered up his frame, so i guess it worked).

isnt that stuff more along the lines of soldering though? how strong could it be?

I'm not sure about soldering, but brazing is very strong. I brazed a cast iron bench support back together and it was rock solid. Neither is anywhere near as strong as welding, but they have their uses.
