I'm looking at my boss's NPR 4cyl diesel that just started blowing light colored smoke (coolant I figure). I'm trying to figure out the PCV system on this truck. There is a tube from the valve cover and a tube from the crankcase both running to a cannister on the side of the block. a third tube connected to this cannister just dumps out the bottom of the truck. there is no tube running from the PCV back into the intake like I usually see on gas engines. the white smoke is coming out of this tube under the truck. I can't see any noticeable water on the dipstick. there also seems to be some oil dripping out of this tube, but I can't tell for sure if it's not just dripping down the engine block and onto the tube.
it's been blowing smoke for a couple weeks now and the coolant reservior is still about half full, but I can't say how much exactly it has lost in that time.
any initial ideas?
