1st- when is the next meeting so i can pay my dues

2nd- i need a lil bit of welding done, it should take a total of about 15 seconds but it really needs to happen, just wondering where i could get some done.

3rd- im gonna need some help figuring out what to do. i got a 97 f-250 w/ D50. i just picked up a 88 f350 dually with a D60. what year did they switch balljoint/kingpin. basically i just need a ton of info about the swap, what parts to use and what might interchange. also the 97 has 6 suspension so ill need to make/order some drop brackets and such. thanks for the help

2- what do you need to be welded?

just the support that my hood latch bolts to. both sides have cracked all the way through so theres not really anything holding it on. its thin metal and only a few inches on each side so like i said, nothing to it.

ask cody (jonesy) if he will tig weld them for you for a small fee. just beware of his work ethic

3- take the dually adapters off, or swap to SRW hubs if they are the one piece units. In '88 it could be either king pin or ball-joint(but I'm leaning towards ball joint), especially since a 4x4 Ford dually was a special order/conversion deal in those years. Regardless though, it should work fine for what you are doing. All you need is the proper u-bolts, steering linkage and a panhard bar and it will basically bolt right in to your truck, should be an easy swap.

Its king pin if it has 4 bolts on top of the knuckle. Its ball joint if it has one big nut. Ball joint 60s are almost as strong as kingpin 60s.

is the panhard even necessary going from the leafsprung TTB to leafsprung solid axle?

aight well its a kingpin if thats the case. im pretty sure they are 1 piece hubs also. got a suggestion on where to order any of the parts? thats pretty much what i needed. ive got all the steering, panhard bar and bracket, and driveshaft with the transfer case yoke. thanks for the help. im prolly gonna go ahead and bring it up here to start rebuilding cause im sick of that d50.

how thick is the material?

and welding is tha fast part ... fitup and prep is what takes so damn long.

Its nothing but thick sheetmetal, its already fitted and ready to weld. a few swipes with a wirebrush and shes ready to roll. Its just that the whole thing is cracked so my hood wont latch all the way...which isnt the best idea. my number is (804)-437-4231 if you can do it give me a call.

My experience with welding cracked sheet metal back together is that it just cracks again.

pretty much .... if it is stressed enough to break it while solid, then a weld will usually fail at the toe.
