researching ready welders

Post by Steinberg »

I'm thinking that my next welder should be a ready welder. I have an AC stick welder already. The base ready welder model states
The RWII Model #10000 is cabled best for battery operation. This model will also connect to all CV (constant voltage) and DC (direct current) output machines.
So it sounds like I could not power it off my AC stick welder.
RWII Model #10000ADP is cabled for battery operation and with the addition of the AC to DC Power Converter the Model 10000ADP will also connect to CC (constant current) stick machines as well as CV (constant voltage) machines.
So, for that second one, will it run off what I have?

And as you probably guessed, I'm planning dual batteries in the truck so I can run it 24V too.

Negative, it will not. The adapter is for wall current to the gun controls. To weld with that thing you must have DC current (CV or CC, of course CV preferred) to do the actual welding. I can't imagine how horrendous trying to mig weld with AC current would be. I do bet Ready Welder tried it though.

The converter is required to run the gun controls from a wall socket when hooking to a CC DC power source.

if you want to do aluminum you should just buy a gun for a millermatic 180... and hey! I've got a machine you can use... hell you might as well just leave the gun at the house :flipoff2:
