Gooo

Looks like a typical traction bar holding one tube still causing the other to rotate and break the plug welds scenario.

Do we know this rig? What's the rest of it look like?

Gotta love the come-a-long tiedown :loser:

that sucks...

Why would the rear axle need a traction bar in a wheeling scenario? To prevent axle wrap?

Are you serious?

Yes, a traction bar is used on a leaf-sprung truck to prevent axle-wrap and the associated hopping that comes with it.

Henry, here's a little saying that helped me when I was a noob. Granted, it didn't take me quite this long to get a grip on things.

"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open ones mouth and remove all doubt"

It depends.

If isn't usually necessary if you're spring under.

Most of the time, SOA it is pretty much mandatory.

You can make up spring packs that do okay without a traction bar, but most people end up putting one on.

Being a noob myself, and not knowing a lot of things. Sometimes asking questions like this is a great way to learn. Unfortunately, not everyone is born with this knowledge or has had someone around them to teach/help them.

However, I thought this info was common knowledge to jeep owners.

For what it's worth, I still consider myself very much a noob in regards to many subjects.

That's why you read, and read, and read, and read, and don't ask questions, untill you've done the research

Oh, and common sense helps a lot too :flipoff2:

I was talking to Caleb earlier and got a bit of the story. It let go on the lower leg of special trail, but my guess is that the tube had been wallowing out that casting for a while before that.
