Good shop (or person) for body/paint work? Cheap/crappy OK.

Post by Redneck7 »

Need some paint/body work, but on a vehicle that has 200,000 miles, so I don't need any show quality work, nor do I want to pay for such work.

Any shops around here that anyone knows of that fits that bill? Better yet, anyone have a paint gun and wanna make some $$?

could take it to the kids at Botetourt Tech high school in Fincastle. I believe they do vehicle work for the price of parts (no labor).

I do all my own body work at my friend's shop in Salem. He does a really good job as well, but it isn't his business. We could do it cheap, depending on what you want done and the condition of the vehicle.

I have friend in dublin that used to paint trucks at Volvo and has painted a few race cars for me, he would be cheap and quick.

Painting the Camaro? How is it running? Interested in some V8 conversion parts? I have to get rid of that green one I have (parting it, keeping the engine but selling the iron head motor in my Blazer).

Indeed the Camaro. Had a time figuring out a clutch/hydraulic issue this summer...long story, but I've got it going ok now. Has a little hitch in her giddy-up if you just ride at the same speed at low RPM, but I just ignore it and move on. No other troubles aside from an exhaust rattle and no radio (never put one in). Drove it on 3 trips this summer. Got 32.9MPG on one, 33.6MPG on one and 31MPG on the 3rd. That thing does pretty good on gas when you keep it at a reasonable speed on the highway.

As to the conversion parts...I'd only buy something like the entire green one...rather just have two cars to make one than buy parts of one and then parts of a second...plus I'm pretty (VERY) broke right now (as I am every semester.)
