Anyone free for trail cleanup this Thurs?

Post by 2DaMtns »

Hello all. Sorry for the short notice, but I was out in the National Forest today on the trail that runs from up around White Rocks Campground over toward Mtn Lake, and I noticed that there is a TON of garbage out through there. I didn't have the time or set up to haul any out, but I want to go back over on Thursday and try to get as much as I can out, either until my truck is full or it hits 4pm. I only have an Xcab Taco, so I can only fit one unless someone wants to sit in that tiny little back seat. You could bring your own rig too, of course. If you haven't been out there, it's not too bad of a trail. It was about as sloppy as I've seen it today and I only used 4wd in maybe 4 places. You could make it through with a bone stock 4wd, and I have a winch and straps and such if you're worried about getting stuck. It's a good ride and now it's ugly, and I wanna clean it up. Anyone interested? Reply here or shoot me a PM if you'd like. Thanks.

CLEANUP POSTPONED

Post by 2DaMtns »

Well, to make a long story short, this cleanup is going to take either more time, more people, or, preferably, both. I went out there today and it took me about an hour and a half to clean up a half mile, and the trail is a total of 10.5 miles long. In that half mile, I gathered up 4 30gal contractor's bags of trash. When I dropped it off at the landfill, it weighed 140 pounds. Unfortunately, the section I cleaned was closest to the entrance and as such, was probably the least trashed. Doing the math, that means there's a good 1.5 to 2 tons of crap in there, and it will take a good 30-40 man hours to clean it all up. So, I am going to try to organize something a little better and post it up far enough in advance that some people can actually make it out there. Thanks.

Get something organized and post it up here. If I've got the extra money to spend on gas to get there, I'd like to go.

Is it bad that I don't much care to clean up that trail anymore? (original poster may not know the story)

Last time I rode through I picked up a complete fuel pump/assembly out of a EFI vehicle off the side of the trail. It is getting pretty bad up there.

Eric, are you sure it's the same road? I thought White Rocks was further out, but maybe I'm mistaken?
