Soft-Top around VT/BBurg

Post by 97JEEPTJ »

For those of you that have/had soft-tops (or no tops) on your vehicles, have you had any issues with security around campus/BBurg/Christiansburg. My Jeep's usually in the cage, all locked up, with the hardtop on atm. I'm contemplating swapping the hardtop for the soft-top on spring break.

I do keep stuff in the Jeep, but it's got an 'instatrunk' where you can't get to the 'trunk' without opening the tailgate, which of course is always locked.

Is it worth the hassle to put the soft-top on to enjoy the potentially nice weather in the spring?

I never had a problem when I had my canback. I'm always paranoid about people stealing my shit though. I locked my spare and hilift with a bike lock and have a locking trunk for my tools. It wont stop anyone from ripping my shit off but it will slow them down.
When I had the soft top I always left my doors unlocked. I figured its better to have all your shit stolen then have all your shit stolen and a cut top.

i never had problems with the soft top ... but i dont have anything worth stealing.

if someone wants your stuff, they will get it ... and if it involves cutting your top and destroying it, they will.

i kept my drivers door unlocked unless i was parked for the night ... then it got locked. my trunk always stayed locked and anything of value stayed locked in the center console.

so no .... no problems.

Someone stole the CB antenna off mine this year, but I think they were just just being a drunk asshole cause the ground wire for the antenna was still attached. Last year when mine was in the cage it had the soft top on all winter and I left the top and doors at home sometime in March and never had a problem. I never leave anything in there and have a console that locks to keep the radio in.
