RC rockcrawling

I talked to a couple of you at the club cookout last semester and forgot to send messages to yall looking to get into it/curious about what parts you need/etc. You can ask questions in this thread or just send them to me and I will glad to help with what I can.

Also have a couple for sale (cant control more than one at a time) ((yet)).

as much as i would love to get into RC (and i may later) i cant due to finances being short...

but ill still learn what ever you are willing to teach :D

I am most def getting into RC Crawling, but have to gather parts. There is a good thread on rccrawler.com on what parts you need for the newbie to get started. All the parts are like a couple hundred $$, and then you have to buy a chasis for at lease $200. I'm going to plan on buying clod axles and then build my own chasis instead of payin $200 for one.

One option I want to have on my build is 4 wheel steer, but not full time. I want to be able to crab when I need to. I'm workin on gettin another job, so gotta wait for some income, but I'll keep up with this thread if I ever get anything going.

Anyone build their own chasis and what axles did you use? Pix are Good.

with the help of a bunch of Leach's parts, I'm cadding up a TLT tuber... hopefully by the end of the summer i'll have the chassis ready and some of the parts on hand. if the first chassis goes well, and i build some good jigs for everything, i may make a limited number of these. right now i'm thinking of using 1/4" and 1/8" aluminum round stock (solid, easier to bend than tube) and then use Alumalloy to braze everything together, or try and talk benny into tigging some together... we'll see. shit would look pimp if it was polished and had little carbon skins...

this design is based on a typical moon buggy (like a campbell ent. or tiny or whatever). also working on a BTF type jeep based buggy, maybe build it to use the front clip from a nylint jeep, still TLT based.

I thought you were one of them, and the other was Ryan Ford I believe. But yea I have been messing with these things for awhile. Learned alot on the way, picked up some of my own little tricks.

Chris, if you do go with the clod axles you can make a chassis for about 10bucks including hardware, no shocks, 4 links, very capapble. I will be doing one of them here in a week or two, and will post pics of it.

I have built most all types now, or have a project of one or the other/etc. 4ws, independant control like you stated, which total what I had into mine, minues the steering servos was 30 bucks. (Radio, reciever, switch, solder). Certain remotes can be switched extremely easy.

I currently have two big ones I will be selling, they are stock now, but are easily made into crawlers with a cheap chassis/I can make you one for a little extra (to anyone interested, if so just PM me.)

They are definately fun, and yes ONE of them went floating down the creek, but I had to see if it would cross it. And that dont mean I dont know what I'm doing, just once you build one, DONT FOLLOW ME OR YOUR SHAT WILL BE BROKEN.

Ok, for pics I tried to look through what I got on the computer, will come up with more when people ask for em/I get more time to take pictures of new stuff I have built.

Tube chassis like Clay was talking about using 1/18th scale Wal-mart Jeep body.

I have a couple more rigs I will try to take pictures of tomorrow. As far as the price of them go it is easy to get carried away and spend a lot of money. But as far as the cheapest I have had a rig was 50 bucks (walmart 1:18th and two 1:6th scale Jeeps) and the most I have spent was a little over 500 on the big tube chassis one you see...which sold for 700including shipping so it wasnt too bad. I currently have enough parts laying around to build a couple more, and will post pics to help show yall different options or possibly buy one off me haha.

Well hope ya enjoy the pics. Stallings has a rig he needs to post once he gets back on the computer, Ary has two he needs to post.

It dried out for two weeks, then it worked. Still on the same battery charge.

Emaxxs rigs. They are IFS but they can be locked out for a high clearance solid axle. Add a custom chassis with 4link type suspension and they become very capable. (These two are for sale)
