Injector cleaning and balancing

Figured I'd write a little bit about my latest minor project:
about 3 years ago I bought a 22re RV longblock off of Tim @ DOA Racing. Not built to the hilt, but bored .060 over, hypereutectic pistons, moly rings, ported head with oversized valves, metal backed timing chain guides, higher flow oil pump and a Thorley header. I swapped over all my EFI junk including my old injectors.
Due to the fact that i'm running the hypereutectic pistons, my engine is a little more sensative to engine knock/detonation. essentially hypereutectics are slightly more brittle than regular cast pistons, google if you want more info... anyway I've always been a bit leery of running lower octane (87) and noticed when running at higher RPM's (3000 and higher) for longer than 15 or 20 seconds or so I do develop some knock (presumably due to higher cylinder temps caused by old/clogged/sticking injectors running the cylinders lean).
I had heard about a company on PBB called Cruzin' Performance up in Michigan and decided to do something about my old injectors (about 180,000 miles on them). I pulled the injectors and packed them according to the website, sent them off last monday.
This Friday i got them back. honestly i couldn't tell the difference between my old injectors and a new set of injectors (neither could several guys at work)... they were spotless and polished, with all new seals and filters. Cruzin' Performance also sent me a link to my before and after flow rates and spray patterns. Before cleaning I measured (in a 100 cc dump on a flow bench) 88 cc, 87cc, 86cc, and 46cc. I would guess (no shit...) that the 46cc injector was causing my lean condition. After balancing, my injectors are at 100cc, 100cc, 100cc and 99cc for a 100cc dump, with good spray patterns and no leakdown.
Now here's the best part:
this cost me $12 ea. plus shipping.
These guys do kick ass work for dirt f-ing cheap. I popped the injectors back in and am happy to report (after dealing with a leaky cold start injector) that the knock is gone, and my junk will rev happily to 6 grand without any stuttering. power is a good bit better using the "seat-of-the-pants" dyno i've got.
Moral of the story: if you're smart enough to run an EFI engine (ahem... stallings...) and have a few miles on your junk, send your injectors to Cruizin'. good stuff, Treehugger approved. not to sound too much like an ad for these guys, but honestly they do great work for real cheap.
