Saw something about them in a 4x4 mag a few years ago. Obviously they've never really caught on($$$$).

couple threads about them on pirate recently. A few years old. Fair price for a custom axle, but they aren't really suitable for comp guys (those in the price range). They would be awesome for a trail riding axle I think. I think their price just came way down, like 11k for a pair which puts them much closer to a competitive price range. They're supposedly not all that much heavier than a normal 60 either.

I'd build a rig around them if someone handed me a pair...

The centered front diff would be a pain to deal with.

its offset like 4 inches or so, but yeah it is clearly best suited for a buggy and some serious wheelbase

To be fair, I'm pretty sure it was a standard R&P failure on a set of axles that have been wheeled hard for 3-4 years. They did not have any axle specific(shaft/joint) failures.
