differential work

Post by Brett »

I'm thinking I need a shop to do some front differential work on my jeep. The oil is leaking out of the end of the axle tube on the driver's side. Is it the oil seal at the differential that is leaking? I am not interested in going to Price and Joy. It was suggested to use Rye Valley. Does anybody know their phone, address, etc. or have other suggestions?

Yes, there is a seal under the carrier that should keep the oil in the diff. If you don't feel like pulling the carrier to replace it you could try installing a seal on the end of the axle tube like this:

these are for a 30 but I'm sure someone make some for a Rubi44.

I never could get the oil to stay in my 60 until I installed a set of similar seals in the axle tube.
