I've been having a little trouble with the hydraulic clutch on the runner lately (3rd gen, 5vz, 5spd for those who don't already know.)
Anyways, I think either the master or slave cylinder is starting to go. First thing in the morning you have to pump the clutch twice to get it in gear. Also sometimes when sitting with the clutch depressed for a good while it will start to slowly re-engage. ( Almost had a little incident when I was sitting at a stoplight)
Are either of these cylinders that prone to failure? It only has 195K on it, tacoma had 270K without clutch issues. I'm betting it's the master cylinder, but not sure. Is it worth rebuilding them or just get a new one? Thoughts, ideas?
Thanks in advance,

I know its not a runner, but I had the same exact issue with my 95 xj with 191k and it was the slave seal. I also would have to pump and fight gear grinding at lights. It was about 4 weeks from the first issues to necessary repairs.

Yup, those are about the symptoms of mine. I think it's getting worse however, today after being parked at work all day I went to drive home and the clutch pedal was laying all the way on the floor. Pulled it back up and after a pump or two it was working again. I'm still debating on the slave vs. master. I'd like to purchase Toyota parts and each are about $100 so I'd like to not guess wrong, lol.

I did end up changing the master cylinder, the one that was on it was actually a replacement (looked identical to the one I got.) Upon disassembly I found it had a tiny tear in the plunger seal. I was in a hurry to get it back together so I went with the $38 one from advance auto. If it goes out again I'm spending the $200 or so for both a new master and slave cylinder from Toyota.
