WTB NP231 T-Case for a TJ

Post by tomg »

So after all the shenanigans on the interstate post Windrock my transfer case is dead, and by that it pretty much blew up to hell.

Looking to see if anybody in the club had one laying around they were willing to sell?
If not, I will be looking online and calling D&M to see how much theirs are.

I would also look at eBay, sometimes good deals come up there. (I'll look around too.)

Any pictures of the carnage?

Maybe go nab one at a junkyard or from a cherokee. About a year ago Zach and I went to the place near valley towing and they had a sea container full of transfer cases. could be worth a look.

curious what all is messed up in the case

holy hell.

that was on the top of the case so would have been hard to see when mounted.

No it's cracked all the way around! As soon I looked under the jeep in the day light I saw it. Surprised none of us noticed on the side of the highway, but explains why it dumped all of the fluid so quickly.

This is true, it did dump all the fluid. I would not have thought all of it to come out of the tail cone like that. Any idea how it did that?

That thing is nuts lol. I've never seen a transfer case split like that. My NP241 cracked before I got the K5, but I was able to JB weld it just fine and the crack never propagated.

Thanks Jake, contacted both guys. Unfortunately the $25 t-case is out of a chevy s-10 and only has 5 bolts instead of 6 to the tranny. Else I would have snagged that! Still waiting to hear back from the other guy from Roanoke.
