We will see how it turns out. My gas will be even worse . Didn't think that was possible. Either way I don't think I'll have to worry about breaking axles any time soon.Looks like some nice axles there, cannot wait to see it DD! Haha

So I am thinking of running hummer double beadlocks since i now have a 8x6.5 lug pattern, any thoughts out there? I am looking for a cheap solution for wheels.
Re: 1996 XJ
Hummer double beadlocks are only inexpensive if you can run them in stock for. If you have to recenter them to work with your steering they can get into your wallet pretty deep. Also being a 16.5 inch wheel tire selection, long term, could be an issue.
Maybe someone on the board has some 17 inch wheels theyd like to get ride of.

I should also add that I run recentered H1 double beadlocks with PVC inserts and I absolutely love them, they are heavy though.
Re: 1996 XJ
The weight of the h1 wheels is my big concern at this point, they are appealing though cause they are rather cheap. I am just trying to explore my options. I would perfer to run 17".

Re: 1996 XJ
I would agree that they are heavy... trust me I know I've been moving them around for awhile. However I have found that alot of the weight of the Military Surplus ones are they still have the magnesium or rubber run flat in them. The weight is greatly reduced when you remove the run flat and put in one of the PVC inserts from http://www.trailworthyfab.com/Hummer-Wh ... nsert.htmlpcparas wrote:The weight of the h1 wheels is my big concern at this point, they are appealing though cause they are rather cheap. One of the positives with the H1 bead locks are they lock the inner and outer bead not just the outer bead like most and are DOT approved.
But since you are trying to run 17" tires then here you go... Tell him Chris sent you and he might even give you a better deal.

Re: 1996 XJ
I wasn't trying to say they aren't still heavy it is after all a steel rim not aluminum like I wish it was.... It's just that they aren't as heavy as they come from the Military. I have also noticed in moving them around that the 8 bolt rims are considerably lighter than the 24 bolt rims that I have to the point that I can pick up a 8 bolt tire and rim and load it in the back of a pickup but I can't without someone else's help on the 24 bolts (and I do realize that the tire is one size larger on the 24 bolt).CJonLP wrote:My H1 with PVC insert and 36" bias Irok wiegh north of 100 lbs each.

Re: 1996 XJ
Over break we got the black jeep running and ready to pass inspection and emissions.
Also added a new welder to the family this weekend. A Millermatic 251, it was a great deal I couldn't pass up.

Re: 1996 XJ
So haven't posted in a while, but the black Cherokee is officially running and the red jeep has been stripped. The black jeep had no compression and a clogged injector in cylinder 2. Had a friend who owns a local race shop do a full valve job and for now moved the working injectors from the red Cherokee engine . She runs great now and the suspension and drive train work have begun.

Dana 30 vs Dana 44.
Dana 44 arch
Test fit
Spring perches
Clayton upper control arm brackets
Before stripping the black jeep I fabricated and tacked on all the axle brackets so I can test fit it. Also all the brackets that were on the axle from the previous owner were not properly done so I started from scratch.
