Ran into some trouble get the 300 working out smoothly, need to take some time and a nice drill presses to finish and fix it up. In the mean time im building a cage in the jeep. got all the old stuff out the other day and now ive got the A and B pillars bent and tacked together in the jeep. *no the bud-diesel is not holding up the windshield*. Hopefully ill get the rest done later this week or this weekend when not doing christmas things



The back is going to look like this but i dont think im going to do a double X being the seats just a single with a vertical bar at the central node and the horizontal bar for the harnesses, yes it will be tied into the frame

Got the main frame of the cage all tacked together have a 3 more pieces to do that will be the frame that the seats will mount along the floor.

im going to put another member from the A to the B pillar (or at least some of the way to the A pillar) that will make the B to C pillar mount is not a dead node (its not really a dead node but it does look funny)

cage is coming along pretty good added some more members to the front along with a few gussets. Now just waiting on the seats got a set of corbeau baja xp's on the way. for the seats i will be putting an X behind the seats and a bar across the back of the seats for the harnesses.

Got the cage completed as far as i could without the seats once they show up ill add door bars and a harness bar and X like structure behind the seat this is what it looks like.

now time to paint, luckily with some flat tires and weighing down the jeep the hoist was able to lift the cage just barely high enough to get it out.

For painting I did a base coat of por15 then top coated it with rattle can rustoleum.


While that dried i worked on frame tie ins got the middle ones done still need to finish up the front and back ones.

Cage looks badass. I like the design.

Why cover fancy paint with spray paint? Why not just have the POR 15 or just Rustoleum?

por15 isnt UV resistance so you have to top coat it. But with just rustoleum you dont have as strong of a coat.

Put the cage back in and started working on the other frame mounts and building the seat mounting tube structure.

got me some sweet seats i the mail yesterday and got all the brackets made up today and started to get the harnesses in.

I like the seats. Where did you end up getting them and how much did they cost?

ended up getting them from 4 wheel parts for 550 for the set. its impossible to get these seats on sale no one offered anything lower than 590 on pirate. I was going to get some ss's but they are to wide. These seats are pushing the limit on fitting as is. I would have gone with PRP's but was on a time crunch and as far as i understand prp's are made to order except a few colors of which all would look weird as hell in my rig.

After going on a few trips and getting quite the arm workout i decided it was time for some hydro assist... it made it about 100x better than before. I used all surplus center parts along with drilling and tapping my durango box. i ended up going with a 1.5x1x6" ram, it works pretty good could use a little more force on the steering but i didnt wanna chance having lagy steering which i managed to avoid. Total i spend about $175 not including tab material and welding supplies. I just followed Billavistas thread on pirate to tap my box.


didn't have any issues at this trip but the clearance between the pitman arm, radiator, and hoses is pretty tight and there is a bit of rubbing going on. Gonna just lift my radiator up an inch or so and that should fix the issue. Also amazed myself that nothing leaked from the beginning i figured id be fighting leaks for an hour or so.

The next 2 most likely projects will be to make a new fuelcell (the stock one had taken a hell of a beating and dont know how much more life it has.) and add a suck down winch. With the shorter wheelbase (which im not planning on stretching anymore) the front has a terrible tendency to unload on vertical faces. Still have decided if im going to actually go the suck down winch route or just a central limiting strap.


Im still planning on doing the dana 300 just gotta weight till i have some more moneys cause i still need shifters, clocking ring, and 2 new driveshafts. The flip mechanism is done however.
