Re: Carter YF and YFA carb info
Thats a good looking little carb, if the Carter doesn’t pan out it might be worth a try. I briefly looked for some numbers on the carb but couldn’t see anything meaningful. After looking again I’m 99% sure its YFA. Andrew will be down Tuesday and we’ll start working on the jeeps then, might drop the...

Re: Carter YF and YFA carb info
Good info in those links, I’ll get the numbers off it today but I also think it is a YFA. I did some looking and Comp makes a few cams for the 2.3, smallest being their High Energy 201/201@.050, .400 lift, 110 Lsa, 800-4800 operating range. I think we need to get the carb and ignition sorted first t...

Re: Huge shop clean out sale
Craftsman 35-230 amp AC stick welder, worked good last time I used it but that was a few years ago $80 Pair of Flowmaster Super 10 mufflers, 2 1/4” center inlet/outlet, $60 Stihl MS 191T top handle chainsaw, 14” bar. Has carb issue and has been sitting on the shelf for a few years - SOLD Stihl MS 17...

Re: 2001 Toyota Tacoma "June"
Looks good. I had a regular cab ‘97 2.7/5spd that I wheeled the heck out of bone stock, they are quite capable trucks. Looking forward to seeing more.

Re: Big Snatch TJ Build
Looks good, if you go with 1-ton axles better step up to at least 39’s or you’ll actually be losing ground clearance over what you have.

Re: "Betsy" 1953 Willys CJ-3b cheap jeep gone wrong
I should have done a better job documenting the build on my ‘49, glad to see you took some pics along the way. For some reason I was thinking this one was the one from Ohio. Maybe that was just a parts jeep, I guess my memory is shot.

Re: Off-road engine building 101
Looks good! Can't wait to hear it run! Thanks man, it sounds really good  Buttoned the motor up with Felpro rubber oil pan and valve cover gaskets with studs for leak free running and easy removal. Also reinstalled my 1 1/2” shorty headers (which turned out to be problematic), my Holley hi...

Re: Off-road engine building 101
The top end consists of Edelbrock E-Street 170cc heads with 60cc chambers, Edelbrock Performer intake, Comp 1.6 roller rockers and as pictured a Crane 272H flat tappet cam (which I swapped out, more on that later.) I completely disassembled the heads and spent a few hours with a die grinder doing so...

Re: Off-road engine building 101
Just pulled the 351w out of the ‘79 for a freshen up so I thought I’d update this thread with a few things I’ve learned. Terry and I built the original motor almost 15 yrs ago and it has 11,000mi on it, much of those are off-road miles and horrible abuse. The motor still had 190psi of compression on...
